Et tu, Ken Reid?

What will it be Ken?

Ken Reid may be about to sell out the people who have looked to him for understanding of the full scope of the disaster that Metro will bring if it comes to Loudoun.

Ken’s new position is very different from his old position. He now claims that a tax district will protect his Leesburg people and the rest of Loudoun from this black hole of wasted money. Ken Reid says that this is a land development scheme, masquerading as a transportation project. He’s right.

Ken lays out his concerns in this statement.

From KenReid .org

“Dear Constituents:

The Documentation on Dulles Rail shows that extending Metro into Loudoun County will NOT alleviate traffic congestion; will be used by fewer than 10 percent of all Loudoun Commuters when it opens in Loudoun around 2018; AND will NOT yield a positive economic impact until 2035-2040, yet will begin charging Leesburg homeowners about 3 cents on top of their County and Town taxes, only to rise as Metro's costs increase.

Metro will NOT necessarily boost our jobs base, will NOT help; home values (except within 1 mile of the two proposed stations, according to data) and will be competition for funding for schools, public safety and other services.

"It is possible that opposition may be generated and the Board will have opted in and back out of the tax district, only to find that we are funding Dulles Rail at the expense of schools and other needs. This would be very bad.”

What could possibly cause someone who knows the dark side of Metro, to flip flop and abandon his constituents, his friends, and his principles with one terrible decision?  I call upon all the people who have worked side by side with Ken Reid, helping to alert the public on Metro, to watch Ken’s vote.

Justice John Roberts will always be remembered as the justice that sold out the people. If Ken Reid votes to opt in to Metro, Tax Pig will keep alive the reminder that there is NO place for sell-outs in Loudoun government and that betraying your friends is as low as it gets.

Please do what you know is right Supervisor Reid, because if you have rail, all you can do is raise taxes, and once you get in, you can't get out.

Call Ken soon. 703 777 0203. He will vote Tuesday a.m. at 9:00.
